He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Tharp and Josephine Kilpatrick; his wife Myrna Shackleford Tharp; and his stepson Ashley Benefield. He is survived by: his son John Williams Ross; his grandchildren, Deseriea R. Vance (Robert T. Vance) and William L. Ross; and his great grandchildren, Kolyen W. Vance, Konner S. Vance, Kolten S. Vance and Greyson J. Ross. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers honoring Joe, his family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Homer, LA.
