He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary Alice Britt Herren; his parents, Frank Mitchell Herren and Vera Etta Fowler of Hico; his brothers, Cecil (Mildred), Doil and Wayne; and his brother-in-law Junior Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Patterson Herren; his sister Margie Rivers; his sisters-in-law, Nelda Herren and Sadie Hall; his children, Vicki Colvin (Loyd) and Kerry Herren; his friend Beth Hogan; his grandchildren, David Allen, Christy Kirkley, Melissa Cardwell, John Lee Allen, Paul Allen and Lindsay Stanley; his cousins, David Fowler and Tommy Frederick; and his grandchildren, Praise God, Frank and Mary Alice. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
