Ernestine Rhodes Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ernestine Rhodes (Houma, Louisiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 26, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Ernestine had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Ernestine may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Julia Bazet and Ovide Bazet; and her sisters, Gloria Domangue and Evelyn Trahan. She is survived by: her children, Douglas (Paola Rhodes), Daniel (Judith Rhodes), Rachel (Luis Colonna) and Holly (Matt Blanchard). She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chauvin Funeral Home (5899 LA-311, Houma, LA 70360). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Terrebonne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Ernestine Bazet Rhodes to St. Jude Hospital at StJude.org, the Terrebonne Council on Aging at terrebonnecoa.org, or Masses may be dedicated in her name at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, her baptismal church.
