He was predeceased by: his children, Kurt "Smiles" Gilbert and Sherry Gilbert; his parents, Warren Gilbert Sr. and Margaret Fountain Gilbert; his siblings, Ricky Gilbert, Edna Mae Morel, Barbara Francesiki and June Mistich; and his brothers-in-law, Tommy Frickey and John Francesiki.
He is survived by: his wife Melodie "Mel" Gilbert; his daughter Bonnie Taliancich (John); his granddaughters, Alexys (Gilbert), Makayla Taliancich (Chloe) and Gabrielle Randle (Brannon); his great grandchildren, Kohen Bochner and Madelynn Bochner; and his siblings, Allen Gilbert (Theresa), Peggy Ragas (Lance) and Nell Frickey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the West Park (4511 W Park Ave, Gray, LA 70359). The military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
