He was predeceased by : his parents, George Byrd and Nancy Byrd; his wife Marjorie M. Byrd; his grandchildren, Cody W. Byrd and Brooke N. Byrd; and his brother Robert P. Byrd.

He is survived by : his sons, Ronald "Jay" Byrd, Kenneth Byrd (Deana), Tommy Byrd and David L. Byrd; his daughter-in-law Sheri Roy; his grandchildren, Amber Byrd, Trevor Byrd (Angel), Darren Byrd (Faith), Chris Istre, Christine Istre and Chelsea Breaux (Cody); and his brother Herbert Byrd (Betty).

Visitation was held on Friday, May 31st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, June 1st 2024 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Matthews and Son Funeral Home - Jennings (511 N Cutting Ave, Jennings, LA 70546). A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 1st 2024 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
