With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Dee Smith of Jonesboro, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 18, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his grandson Samson Lowe; his parents, Jonnie Smith and Pearlie Smith (Anderson); and his siblings, Dudley Smith, Troy Smith and Launa Hogan.
He is survived by: his daughters, Bonita Abedi and Cathy Warren; his grandchildren, Joshua Etheridge (Angela) and Amber Swanner (Joseph); his great grandchildren, Bryce Etheridge (Savanna), Kaylee Etheridge, Oliver Swanner, Seth Lowe, Kayla Lowe, Haley Lowe Strong and Mikayla Puckett; his great great grandchild Stetson Etheridge; and his sister Nellie Bartlett. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home (228 Allen Ave, Jonesboro, LA 71251). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery (123 Denton Rd, Quitman, LA 71268).
