He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Bob McCanlies and Flora Bacon; his brother John McCanlies; and his nephew Johnny McCanlies. He is survived by: his wife Betty McCanlies of Kaplan; his children, Cedric Richard (Shauna) of Kaplan and Stephanie (Mockey Terry) of Kaplan; his sister Julie White of Krugerville, TX; and his grandchildren, Gabbi Terry, Philip Terry III, Cullen Richard and Reagan Richard.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home (300 N Eleazar Ave, Kaplan, LA 70548). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Kaplan United Methodist Church (501 Lejeune Ave, Kaplan, LA 70548). A burial was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Holy Rosary Cemetery (152 Veterans Dr, Kaplan, LA 70548).
