He was predeceased by: the mother of his children Glenda Miles Prejean; his parents, Lizzem Prejean and Ella Mae Simon; his stepbrother Steve Prejean; and his grandmother Edmae Mathew.
He is survived by: his close friend Eva Champagne of Kaplan; his children, John D. Prejean II (Adele) and Gwen Stewart (Terry); his stepchildren, Kirk Champagne (Olivia), Dawn Champagne (Todd Gravouilla), Blake Champagne (Amy), Crystal Champagne, Byron Champagne (Shayla) and Shane Frederick; and his stepsisters, Annadell Prejean, Janet Lemoine and Patricia McCain. He is also survived by 19 grand-children and 25 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church (901 N Frederick Ave, Kaplan, LA 70548). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
