Though Ronald has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Dennis Smith and Ethel Juanita Cartier Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Timothy Hess; his daughter Hannah Michelle Hess; his grandson Joshua Paul Pope; his sister Charlotte Sharon Hancock; his mother-in-law Rosemary Timothy; and his siblings-in-law, Jacob Timothy III and Katherine Timothy. He is also survived by extended family and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery (4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or The Alzheimer's Association, in honor of Ron's life of compassion, faith, and enduring love.

“Ronnie and I graduated together in 1965. Through the years I would see Ronnie at Mid City events and reunions of the church. Ronnie was always kind and a spiritual example. Prayers and condolences to the family. Will see Ronnie again in Heaven. Cheryl Coney Arnold”
