He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Artis and Lessie Artis; his wife Jo Annie Artis; his daughter Lawanda Artis; and his siblings, McKinley Richard and Retha Chenevert.
He is survived by: his children, Leonard John Artis, Jr. and Ashley Artis Martin "Baby Girl" of Oberlin; his grandchildren, DeJon Artis, KeShon Artis, Ashley Artis, Brooklyn Fontenot and Bryce Thomas; his siblings, Olan Artis, Ray Artis (Jessica), Donald Artis (Joycelyn), Odella Bob and Ella Mae Ceasar; his goddaughters, Cassandra Guillory and Katrina Guidry; and his cousin Evelyn Henry. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
