It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Girouard Martin of Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away on March 7, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Yvelle Theriot Girouard and Whitney Girouard Sr.; her siblings, Whitney Girouard, Jr. and Tina Girouard; and her parents-in-law, Sidney and Mabel Martin.
She is survived by: her husband James Paul Martin, Sr.; her children, Laurie Martin Dupuis (Steven Joseph Dupuis) of Carencro, Karen Martin Holston (Craig Holston) of Crowley, Paul Martin (Teri Martin) of Minneapolis and Ross Martin of Kerrville, Texas.; her grandchildren, JP Martin, III (Kailey), Taylor Martin (Jamie), Barbie Dupuis Sebastien (Christian), Ross Holston (Collette), Reno Dupuis (Sophie), Sidney Martin, Alex Holston and Danielle Dupuis (Grant Cox); her great grandchildren, Emilie Martin, James Martin IV, Elle Martin, Beau Martin and Graham Dupuis; and her siblings, Gloria Girouard Bonwell, Jackie Girouard and Norman Girouard.
Always an optimist and a lioness, Barbara was a breast cancer survivor and courageously battled Parkinson's Disease for over 15 years. In her true spirit and devotion to education she donated her body to the Bureau of Anatomical Service - Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
