He is survived by: his wife Annetta N. Bernard; his child Carmen J. Herring (Alex) of Lafayette, LA; his grandsons, Alex J. Herring, III and Clagis J. Herring; his siblings, Andrew Bernard, Jr. of New Orleans, LA and Agnes Daniels of Maryland; and his sister-in-law Marjorie Smith (Alton) of Houston, TX..

Visitation, by invitation only, will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Syrie Funeral Home from 9:30 a. m. until 10:30 a. m. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing at the funeral home and church.
