He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Elie and Emma Jean Ackal Smith; his brother Bob Elie Smith, Jr. (Stuart Mark Smith); and his niece Sydnie Claire Smith. He is survived by: his siblings, Susan Smith Lalande (David) of Rayne, LA, David Ackal Smith of Lafayette and Steven Paul Smith (Veronica) of New Iberia; his siblings' children, Melissa Taylor (Brad), Claire Lalande, Jason Lalande (Kali), Martin Paul Smith and Colby Segura; his uncle Anthony Ackal of New Iberia; and his goddaughter Melissa Lalande Taylor. He is also survived by four great-nieces and three great-nephews.
