He was predeceased by: his son Ricky Broussard, Sr.; his former wife Youlanda Prejean; his parents, Mary Broussard and Whitney Broussard; his siblings, Sidney Broussard, Paul Broussard, Rose Broussard and Alberta Davis; his granddaughter Cecelia Lapoint; and his daughters-in-law, Quenella Broussard and Barbara Garrick.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Broussard, Joseph Broussard, Sr. (Lena Broussard), Russell Broussard, Sr. (Paula Broussard), Rodney Broussard, Sr. (Tracey Broussard), Mary Washington (Malcolm Washington), Janet Andrus (Joseph Andrus, Sr.), Laura Ballard (Gerald Ballard), Cathy Lapoint and Deborah Watson; and his daughter-in-law Bertha Broussard. He is also survived by 39 grandchildren; 101 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren.
