He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ortego of Ville Platte; his children, Meagan Frederick (Tyler) of Lafayette, Spencer Ortego (Heather) of Youngsville, Nicholas Ortego (Amanda) of Broussard and Taylor Ortego (Lindsay) of Jupiter, FL; his siblings, Genie Kruszynsky (Mitch), Karen Vidrine (Clarence) and Charles Ortego (Loretta); his sister-in-law Karen Ortego; and his grandchildren, Asher Ortego, Sloane Ortego, Sawyer Ortego, Rory Ortego, Pete Ortego, Liam Ortego, Austin Frederick and Beckham Frederick.

Contributions can be made in Dwain's memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation.
