She was predeceased by: her parents, Burley Smith and Mary Smith (Gene McDowell); and her siblings, Paul Smith, Gladys Smith, Hilda Probst and Marge Hathorn.
She is survived by: her husband Gene; her children, Carter McDowell of Alexandria, VA, Nancy McDowell of Fulshear, TX and Stuart McDowell (Jane) of Andover, MA; her sister Betty Sheridan; and her grandchildren, Byron (Tiffany), Andrew, Ellen, Emily, Lauren and Mireille.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be given to Asbury United Methodist Church of Lafayette.
