Florence Marilyn Benassi Burleigh Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Florence Marilyn Benassi Burleigh (Lafayette, Louisiana), born in Duluth, Minnesota, who passed away on July 31, 2022 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Charles Paul and Emily Behnke Benassi; her husband Edward Burleigh, Jr.; her daughters, Susan Burleigh Shaw (Raymond), Rev. Elaine Burleigh of Baton Rouge, Ann Burleigh Rasmussen (Brian) of Lake Charles and Carolyn Burleigh Smith (Robert) of Lufkin, Texas.; her grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Edward Smith (Stephanie) of Richmond, Sarah Marie Smith of Lufkin, Charlotte Prejean Carleton (Wesley) of Houston and Brian Joseph Prejean of Galveston, Texas.; and her great grandchildren, Woodes Edward Carleton, Luke Edward Smith, Nathan Robert Smith and Elijah Scott Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Florence's memory to First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, Louisiana, The Disabled American Veterans Association, or The Salvation Army.
