He was predeceased by : his wife Brenda Robicheaux Young; his parents, Gilbert Joseph Young, Sr. and Lelia Lavergne; his daughters, Melissa Guffey and Belinda Sadberry; his brother John Young; his granddaughter Naomi Sadberry; his great grandchild Shelby Sadberry; and his son-in-law Wendell Quebedeaux.

He is survived by : his children, Lenneth "Butch" Young (Marie), Marlene Quebedeaux (Mike LeBlanc), Tonya Cook (Kevin), Rhonda Stovall (Roy) and Terri McCoy; his sister Coralie "Tootie" Bouley; his grandchildren, Shannon Hebert (Brad), Adam Young (Jessica), John Thatcher, Jr., Ryan Thatcher, Samuel Cook and Matthew Cook; his great grandchildren, Lillian Armentor, Laine Armentor, Isabella Thatcher and Rhett Thatcher; his great great grandchild Colten Baudoin; and his sister-in-law Shirley Young.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4117 N University Ave, Carencro, LA 70520). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
