He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Sandlin and Cecil Sandlin; his parents-in-law, Louis and Elaine Mann; and his goddaughter Christine Sandlin.
He is survived by: his son Maxwell; his caregiver Leslie; his friend Jimmy (Leslie); his wife Leslie Sandlin; his daughters, Kirby Schroeder and Shelby Sandlin; his children-in-law, Scot Schroeder and Davey Jewell; his grandchildren, Maxwell (Mallory), Adler, Nela, Wells, Ruby and Leo; his brothers, Carl and Cecil Sandlin; and his daughters, Lucy Lou and Lily. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He participated in an experimental treatment called Dendritic Cell Immunotherapy through Baylor - St. Luke's in Houston, and his contributions to the trial will surely go on to save the lives of countless individuals suffering from the same disease.
