With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Richard Leonard of Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away on March 19, 2024 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Leonard Sr. and Margaret I. Leonard. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Burdin Leonard; his sons, Jimmy Leonard (Regina), Justin Leonard (Catherine) and Brian Leonard (Angela); his grandchildren, Alex, Lilly, Kaitlyn, Julia, Elyse, Briley and Logan Leonard; and his sister Candy Carl (Joe).

The family welcomes donations to Moncus Park (moncuspark.org) or the Society for Louisiana Irises as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
