He was predeceased by: his son Darrell James Gary; his former wife Betty Sonnier; his parents, Leon Gary and Ozile Romero Gary; and his siblings, Joe Gary, Leonie Gary, Joseph Percy Gary, Wilfred Gary and Nola Touchet.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Dolores Boudreaux Gary; his daughter-in-law Michelle (Denny Rogers); his foster son David (Tara Sonnier); his stepsons, Scott Latiolais and Shannon Vice; his granddaughter Nikki Gary; his stepgrandchildren, Trevor Johnson, Kristie Sonnier, Blake Sonnier, Jill Hebert, Andrew Latiolais, Ty Vice and Cayden Vice; and his siblings, Shirley Segura and Vinton Gary.
