He is survived by: his wife Pauline Compton; his children, John "Tramel", Nathaniel Compton, Trachial, Carl Jr., Andrella and Iantha Gilliam; and his brothers, Joseph "Bay" Compton (Milagros) of Plumas Lake, Paul "Larry" Compton of Lafayette, LA and Ralph James Compton of Lafayette, LA. He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
