It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Edward Burney of Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away on January 21, 2023, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Burney and Verna Mae Burney; and his siblings, Carnel Burney, Tim Burney and Kathleen Burney.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kearson Thomas of Lafayette, Kyntrelle Thomas of Rayne and Summer Thomas of Opelousas; his sisters, Claudia Orphe of St. Martinville and Lynette Savoy; and his grandchildren, Kearion Pleasant, Nova Brown, Kollean Thomas, Khalanie Louis, Ace Louis, Jaicelyn Thomas, Jaiah Herbert, Khyzier Herbert, Kash Herbert and Kelyx Herbert.
