He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Otis Penny and Azile Antoinette Hathorn Penny; and his brother Dr. Carl Otis "Copper" Penny. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Bezard Penny; his children, John William "Jay" Penny Jr., James Wesley Penny (Rebekah), Michael Hall Penny (Stacey) and Leah M. Penny; his grandchildren, Colin, Jack, Alexandra, Emily, Lauren (Nathan), Jake (Anna) and Julia (Trey); his great grandchildren, Oakley, Bentleigh and Wylder; his siblings, Kathleen P. Robinson (Don) and Dr. Michael K. Penny (Gwen); and his pet Tootsie. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
