He was predeceased by: his parents, William Windhorst Schendel and Irene Blauert Schendel. He is survived by: his wife Anna Katharine Wilson Schendel; his children, Anna Kerensa Robinson (Henry) of Fred and David Wilson Schendel (Jill) of Lafayette, Louisiana; his grandsons, Wilson Prejean, David Robinson and John Henry Robinson; his brothers, Jeffry Schendel (Joanie) of Crowley and Michael Schendel (Jacqueline) of Cullman, Alabama; his goddaughters, Kelly Paul and Holly Davis; and his pet Lucy.

Visitation was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church of Lafayette (301 W Farrel Rd, Lafayette, LA 70508).
