It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nathaniel Garrett Sr. (Lafayette, Louisiana), born in Waveland, Mississippi, who passed away on November 6, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Dave Samuel Garrett and Josephine Robinson Garrett of Jackson, Louisiana.; his wife Ora Lee Willingham Garrett; and his siblings, Rudolph, Samuel, Andrew Garrett, Emma Lee Williams, Comeail Peters, Mary Fairley, Josephine Lucille Bryant, Celestine Matthews, Ella Mae Hankton and Bessie Garrett.

He is survived by: his children, Jacquelyn Bates (Alton), Nathaniel Garrett, Jr., Anthony Garrett (Deborah), Denise Batiste (Arthur), Natalie Spencer (Leo Paul) and Timothy Garrett (Connie); his grandchildren, Aletris Thomas, Jovan Bates Tapeh (Thomas), Atia Garrett, Alton Bates, Jr., Crystal Garrett, Gina Batiste Magee (Stephen), Tamron Alexander, Tracey Batiste, Olivia Batiste, Amir Garrett and Kayla Spencer; and his great grandchildren, Tayvon Thomas, Dontae Garrett, Janae, Jacqui Tapeh and Aaliyah Bates.
