He was predeceased by: his mother Agnes Mitchell; and his brother Paul Benoit. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Mitchell of Lafayette; and his siblings, Russell Benoit, Catherine "Phillips" Benoit and Jean Mitchell. He is also survived by father of his two children.

“So sorry to hear about Oliver passing. He was one of the best that I ever worked for. He was a fantastic person who changed the work environment in Baker. Such a breath of fresh air from the Supervisor that was in Baker before him. I will always remember his kind works and his work ethic. Scott and I had hope to detour a little to stop and visit with him on our next trip to Florida. Oliver attended my Dad's funeral, that shows the devote Catholic he was. I know God met him at the gate.”
