We are sad to announce that on April 1, 2022 we had to say goodbye to Peter John Batiste (Lafayette, Louisiana). He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Chloe Star Broussard; his nephew Linton James Batiste Jr.; his great-nephew Xavier Orlando James Batiste; and his pet Sassy Batiste. He is survived by: his parents, Felton Batiste Sr. and Rose Sampy; his wife Juanita Allen-Batiste; his children, Candace Roberts (Melvin), Shapetra Smith (Darius), Dapetra Broussard (David), Shontrona Stevens (Kevin) and Peter Felix (Tierra); his stepson Romelle Kidd; his brothers, Felton Batiste Jr. (Cynthia), Larry Batiste (Lucille) and Linton Batiste; his close friends, Larry George (Charlotte) and Ken Harmon (Regina); his cousins, Victoria Marie Breaux and Dave Cormier; his godfather Russelle Castille; and his godson Keelan Lando (Taylexia). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday April 9, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church from 9:00 a. m. until 11:00 a. m. All those in attendance must wear masks or face coverings.

“My name is Halon. I am Peter Batiste’s grandson. I loved my papa Peter so much. He was the nicest person I have ever met. Every birthday and Father’s Day I would get him a special gift. I have been very sad since my papa passed. He was a very good man. Even if he were sick he was still always kind to me. I would talk to my papa all the time. The last time we spoke 3.20 and as always we ended by saying “I love you”. I will always love you papa. I know you are with me in my heart.”
