Raymond Allen Green Obituary
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Jennings, LA for Raymond A. Green, an American patriot, age 89, who passed away peacefully of natural causes under St. Joseph’s Hospice care at Cornerstone at the Ranch on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in Lafayette.
An informal Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10:00 am at First Assembly of God Church in Youngsville, LA.
Raymond was born on July 23, 1933, to Claude and Edna Lee Green in North Little Rock, AR. After graduating high school, Ray earned a National Defense Service Medal in the United State Air Force, was honorably discharged in 1954, and graduated from Little Rock Junior College in 1956. He was married for a short time and had two children. Ray began a career as a radio DJ for KLRA in Little Rock, AR where he recorded a rare interview with Elvis Presley and a full concert in 1956. Ray’s recordings were later released worldwide on LP Records and CD’s.
Ray remarried and moved to Charlotte, NC, had two more children, and continued his career as a radio DJ for WSOC-FM, and on-air talent for WSOC-TV before acting in television and finally landing a starring role in Frederick Friedel’s drive-in horror film, AXE. Ray’s family finally moved to Lafayette, LA where Ray began a new career in Sales Training and Motivational Speaking, and became an active patriot in his community.
Ray is survived by his three children, Cindy Farrell of St Paul, MN, Ken Riser of Dallas, TX, and Scott Green of Lafayette, LA; his six grandchildren, Jessi Griffin, Victoria Green, Michael Farrell, Katerie Farrell, Daniel Farrell, and Michelle Farrell; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Griffin, Hazel Farrell, William Farrell, and Elise Farrell; his two brothers, Mickey Green and Alan Green; and his sister, Linda Carol Howard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Green; his daughter, Teresa Green; as well as his brothers, Jimmy Green and Tony Green.
