With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Regina Louise Benoit Simon of Lafayette, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 5, 2025 at the age of 82. She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Benoit and Bertha Benoit; her husband Leroy Joseph Simon; her son Tony Lee Simon; her parents-in-law, Raphael and Veronica Simon; her brothers, Joseph, Percy and Patrick Benoit; her brothers-in-law, Percy, Gerald Simon and James Gallien; her sister AnnaLee Benoit; and her sisters-in-law, Rose Benoit, Georgia Benoit, Audrey Benoit and Patsy Gabriel.
She is survived by: her children, Terry Roy Simon (Valerie) of Carencro, Geraldine Louise Freeman (Glyn) of Gulfport, Shane Joseph Simon (Sherika) of Carencro, Marsha Ann Filer (Keith) of Parks and Regina Ray Oscar (Elijah) of Abbeville; her grandchildren, Kandice Broussard of Lafayette, Kasha Broussard of Orange, TX, Andria Hunt of Lafayette, Toni, Adrian Jr., Branton Hunt of Parks, Shandrae, Destiny, Nakyra, Shakur Simon of Norman, Eliyah, Alana, Kennedie and Elijah Oscar, Jr. of Abbeville; her great grandchildren, Katelyn, Karmen Broussard of Lafayette and Saeliana Sonnier of Lafayette; her siblings, Ruby Andrus (Wilson), Rita Benoit, Emma Simon (Matthew) and Paul Benoit; and her siblings-in-law, Albert Simon (Ella), Bertha Jones of Lafayette, Eula Andrus (Calvin) of Lafayette, Genevieve Gallien of Lafayette, Catherine Rubin (Luman) of Lafayette and Carol Simon of Lafayette. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Syrie Funeral Home (1417 E Simcoe St, Lafayette, LA 70501). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (145 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Lafayette, LA 70501).
