It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas William Irwin of Lafayette, Louisiana, born in Portsmouth, Virginia, who passed away on January 6, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Margaret Rhodes Irwin; his children, Todd William Irwin and Adeline Irwin Newsom (Angel); and his daughter-in-law Carolyn Rose Irwin. He is survived by: his sons, Thomas D. Irwin of Lafayette and Scott Christopher Irwin (Angel) of Carencro; his sister Yvonne Irwin Cook (Jimmy) of Alexandria; his grandchildren, Kyler Irwin, Morgan Irwin, Bailey Sims, Cody Newsom, Kaitlyn Newsom and Gerald Poirrier (Kody); his great grandchildren, Camden Scott Irwin, Sophie Rene Irwin, OakLynn Simon, Khlie Poirrier, Khloe Poirrier and Kohen Poirrier; his sibling's children, Karen Cook Bryant (Larry) and Clay Cook (Rebecca); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Cole Bryant (Brooke), Ross Bryant (Danielle), Laura Neal (Oliver), Sarah Cook and Jess Cook. He is also survived by five great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Mr. Tommy's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
