She was predeceased by: her husband Dewey Joseph Matt, Sr.; her sons-in-law, Stanley Buller and Greg Leger; her grandson Brandon Sweeney; her great grandchild Casey Buller; her parents, Eluse Thibodeaux and Marie Morain; her siblings, Huey Thibodeaux, Helen Richard and Josephine Prejean; and her siblings-in-law, Virginia Thibodeaux, Erin Courvelle (Ben), Catherine Drisdale (Tom), Julia Normand, Jack Richard, Murphy Prejean, Dennis Garcia and Clarence Prejean.
She is survived by: her children, Dewey "Jody" Matt, Jr. (Joann) of Stockbridge, GA, Carolyn Buller of Whiteville, Patricia Roy (Lawrence) of Lafayette, Linda Munro of Lafayette, Gretchen Leger of Lafayette, Elizabeth Sweeney (Kevin) of Hanceville, AL and Alisa Fontenot (Karl) of Douglasville, GA; her sisters, Theresa Prejean of Baker and Berthaline Garcia of Baton Rouge; and her siblings-in-law, Barbara Thibodeaux, Nelson Matt (Linda) and Joe Grasso. She is also survived by thirty-one grandchildren; sixty-five great grandchildren; twenty-three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 8:00 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4117 N University Ave, Carencro, LA 70520). A rosary was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church (300 W Alexander St, Lafayette, LA 70501).
