He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Helmer and Olivia Helmer; and his siblings, Elmore Helmer and Elnora "Sis" Helmer Gibbs. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Jane Rojas Helmer; his children, Lonnie Helmer (Edward Savoie) and Kermit E. Helmer, Jr. (Kathryn Palmer); his grandchild Dallen Helmer (Aleyna); and his stepgrandchild Haylee Morse (Corey). He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Barataria Baptist Church (2596 Jean Lafitte Blvd, Jean Lafitte, LA 70067). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
