He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Dr. James, Cleary Hinton and Willard S. Mahfouz; and his godfather Michael Mahfouz. He is survived by: his mother Michelle Mahfouz Fugatt; his parent-in-law Rayburn; his father Scott Hinton (Jodi); and his siblings, Holly Buteau (Thomas), Katie Fugatt and Cameron Fugatt. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Johnson Funeral Home (4321 Lake St, Lake Charles, LA 70605). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be considered to Habitat for Humanity or the Coastal Conservation Association in Brett's memory.
