He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Mitchell and Georgianna Mitchell; his grandparents, Antoine, Edolia Mitchell, Herman and Victoria Woods; his son Edmond August Mitchell, Jr.; and his sisters, Verda Mae Nelson, Nora Mary Williams and Victoria Ann Jolivette.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Mitchell; his siblings, Edward Joseph Mitchell, Clayton John Mitchell, Elnora Skinner (Felman) and Shirley Pappion (Patrick); his godchildren, Shirley Pappion (Patrick), Ella Marie Eaglin, Debra Lilly (Jerry), Donna Gallien and Regina Williams; his children, Vincent Wilson, Jr., Ruth Geary and Maureen Carrier; his close friend Cyrilla Thomas; and his nephews, Curtis James Williams, Kaiser Ray Williams, Jr. and Javonte Williams.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Combre Funeral Home (1200 Mill St, Lake Charles, LA 70601). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (2031 Opelousas St, Lake Charles, LA 70601). A burial was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:45 PM at the Sacred Heart Cemetery (2646 Opelousas St, Lake Charles, LA 70601).
