It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Larry Nelson Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who passed away on October 4, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his daughter Megan Nelson; his parents, Joseph Nelson and Bertina Nelson; and his sister-in-law Sheila Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Janis Nelson of Lake Charles; his children, Courtney Henry (Leyland) of Houston, Joseph "Joey" Nelson, Jr. (Sonya) of Houston and Denise Vernon (Cedric) of Cincinnati, OH; his siblings, Paul D. Nelson of Lake Charles, Sally Guillory (Hubert) of Lake Charles, Michael Nelson (Lou) of Lake Charles and Ted Nelson (Elizabeth) of Lake Charles; and his grandchildren, Kailyn Nelson, Jurnee Nelson, Drew Henry, Nylah Henry, Grant Nelson, Corey Victorian, Codee Fuquay and Alexia Fuquay. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
