He is survived by: his wife Dru Ann Slaughter Freeman; his children, La'Shanda Nicole Freeman, Nelson Freeman Jr., Marcus Lynn Freeman, Michael Tyrone Freeman Sr. (Michelle), Brandon Earl Freeman (Kimberley) and Patrick (LaKoshia); his siblings, Ezola Freeman, Barbara Toombs (Darren), Irvin Freeman (Mary), Donald Freeman (Barbara) and Ronald Freeman; his grandchildren, I'Dalis, Nelson III, Catherine, Katherina, Timia, Faith, Me'Lissa, Marcus Jr., Marquis, Mariah, Michael Jr., Malcolm, Meila, Shandrika, Mia, Kailey, Jesslyn, Allison, Madison and Paitlyn; and his great grandchild Nelson IV. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church (910 N Shattuck St, Lake Charles, LA 70601). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
