Though James has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Rongey and Bonnie Rongey; and his sister Catherine Rongey. He is survived by: his children, Benjamin James Rongey (Tiffany) and Marianne Rongey Fischer (Doug); and his sister Vicki Willard (Wendell). He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews, numerous great‑nieces and great‑great‑nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (529 W 5th St, Laplace, LA 70068). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. John Memorial Gardens (2205 W Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA 70068).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, honoring Jim's lifelong commitment to servicemen and women.
