He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Sr. Smith and Emelie Danos Smith; his son Donny Smith; his sisters, Eva Duet and Amelia Smith; and his son-in-law Eric Leblanc.

He is survived by: his wife Loretta C. Smith; and his children, Wanda LeBlanc, Lonnie Boudreaux (Scott), Rhody Smith, Dwayne Smith (Joyce), Heidi Smith (Bryan) and Lila LaCoste (Adam Troy). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

“Dave and I are so sorry for your loss. I’ve known and worked with Heidi for many years and have heard so much about Andrew. What a wonderful husband, father and grandfather he was. Years ago Heidi told me that when her younger sister Lila had a nightmare she screamed out in her sleep. Their Dad, Andrew came running into their room. I told Heidi he was my hero because he came running not knowing what horrible scene he might find, but he came to the rescue no matter what. That’s a true hero.”
