Vanessa Williams Ann Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vanessa Williams Ann (Lecompte, Louisiana), born in Alexandria, Louisiana, who passed away on October 21, 2021, at the age of 51.
Vanessa served the community in various capacities: music educator in the Winn Parish School System, musician at the Union Hill and Oak Ridge Baptist churches; musician and teacher in the New Hope Baptist Association and parish singing conventions; mission sister, deaconess, church treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the Union Hill Baptist Church; the Winn Parish Library Board; the local cancer survivors' organization and the Black school reunion committee.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Rise' Jones (Archie); son, George Hobdy (Deyna); sister, Ruthie Smith (George); half-sister, Annie Sanders; five grandchildren - Chaning and Jasmine Jones, Ndia and Kareese Hobdy and Cayden McCoy; one great-granddaughter, Laylah Maryee Johnson; one aunt, Lucy Hester; and a host of other relatives, friends and those whose lives she may have touched during her life.
Funeral services will be at the Union Hill Baptist Church on October 30, at 11am. The viewing will also be at the Union Hill Baptist Church on October 30.
