He was predeceased by: his former wife Dorothy; his parents, Elsie Porter and J. A. Porter; his sister Juanita Porter Gabro (Leon); and his stepchild Gene Bordelon (Ann).

He is survived by: his wife Pat; his children, Judy (Cleve), Cathy, Lindy (Brian) and David (Monya); his grandchildren, Randi Taylor (James), Traci Todd (Jennifer), Terri Bowles (Nick), Cheryl Neubert (Tommy), J. W. Todd (Sarah), Troy Bennett, Karra Aymond (David) and Trace Porter (Hannah); his sister-in-law Sharon Thompson (Jim); his stepsons, Bobby Bordelon (Renee) and Tommy Bordelon (Debbie); and his stepgrandchildren, Justin Cryer (Carley), Josh Cryer (Lacy), Brenna Bordelon, Bryce Bordelon (Brooke), Lindsey Bordelon and Edward Bordelon.
