He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Gill and Gloria Jean Strength. He is survived by: his wife Shelia Gill; his siblings, Beverly Thomas of Houston, Texas and Billy H. Gill (Peggy) of Anacoco, Louisiana; his children, Richard Gill (Renee), Joel Lee Gill II (Marlana) of Leesville, William Parrish (Emily), Tim Lamm (Ave) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Charlene Maroney (Jake) of Batesburg-Leesville; his grandchildren, Justin Gill, Abigail Gill, Emrick Gill, Asher Lamm, Anara Lamm, Axton Lamm, Aksel Lamm, John DePew, Hunter Maroney and Jamie Lancon; and his great grandchildren, Samuel Lencon, Collins Gill and Barrett Gill. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church (2241 Par Rd 6, Leesville, LA 71446). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
