He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Simmons, Sr. and Emma Mae Hadley Simmons; his wife Wilhelmina Turner Simmons; his brother Melvin Simmons; his daughter Glenda Wilson; and his in-laws, Geneva Dorsey, Louis Turner, Sr., Allen Turner, Sr., Ethel Borne, Hazel Jack, Bernice Champagne, Leona Daniels, Bessie White and Rev. Eugene Turner.
He is survived by: his sister Helen Simmons Gunn (Thomas); his son Keith Sr. Simmons (Cressandris); his stepdaughter Darla Turner Gordon; and his in-laws, Mildred Stokes and Lee Turner, Sr. (Emelda). He is also survived by five grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
