He was predeceased by : his parents, Glenn Carter and Bessie Jarnigan Carter; his wife Lydia Erbelding of Johnson Bayou; and his brother James Carter. He is survived by : his children, Richard Carter (Galina) of Roanoke, Frederick Carter (Patti) of Jennings and Bessie Fuller (Tom) of Lake Charles; and his grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Joseph Carter (Katie), Daniel Carter, David Carter (Emily), Matthew Carter, Hope Schmidt (William) and Laura Benoit (Ethan). He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
