He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin A. Ellinghausen Jr. and America Waguespack Ellinghausen; his former wife Leslie McKinney Ellinghausen; and the mother of his child Victoria. He is survived by: his spouse Shelly Claxton Ellinghausen; his daughter Victoria Wells Ellinghausen of Mandeville; his stepsons, Robert Claxton (Hannah) of Virginia and Andrew Claxton of Virginia; and his siblings, Maria America "Mary" Ellinghausen Bienvenu (David), Ann Morrow Ellinghausen Ecuyer (Michael) and Edwin A. Ellinghausen III (Margie). He is also survived by family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church (312 Lafitte St, Mandeville, LA 70448). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church (312 Lafitte St, Mandeville, LA 70448).
A founding member of Le Krewe d'État and longtime member of the Krewe of Proteus, John's contributions to carnival leave a legacy of leadership and friendship that will not be forgotten.
