She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Bates and Grace Todd Bates; her husband James A. Hatcher; her brother David Bates; and her daughter Janet Pharris.

She is survived by: her son Rick Pharris of Mansfield, Louisiana; and her cousin Sonia Ripley of Ipswich, England. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and foster children.
