She was predeceased by: her son Johnny R. Nelson, Jr.; her grandchild Damira Nelson; her father Ethridge Lee Smith; her stepfather Clarence George, Sr.; and her grandparents, William Augustus and Rebecca Powell.
She is survived by: her husband Johnny R. Nelson, Sr.; her children, Shanell N. Nelson, Lynn L. Nelson, Dwayne M. Nelson, Corey Nelson, Robyn M. Nelson and Jamira M. Nelson; her mother Joyce Augustus George; her siblings, Tyrone "Bobba" Smith (Cheryl), Clarence George, Jr., Joycelyn "Minnie" Goerge and Donna Anderson; and her nephew Jeremy Guillory. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (6820 Westbank Expy, Marrero, LA 70072). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. Interment: Will Be Private. Face Masks Are Recommended.
