He was predeceased by: his stepdaughter Danielle Haines; his former wife Vivian Aiola Blackledge; his parents, John Lewis Blackledge and Lou Arkey Rich Blackledge; and his brothers, Bill Blackledge, Virgil Blackledge, Clois Blackledge and Frank Blackledge.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Blackledge; and his children, John, Blackledge Jr. (Shelly), Vernon Blackledge Sr. (Shawn Blackledge) and Elizabeth Blackledge Young (Bobby). He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
