He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine; his parents, Rayford Butler Smith and Jonnie Mabel Smith; his daughter Melanie Smith Trahan; his granddaughter Bridgette Laine Trahan; and his siblings, Elwin Smith and Donis Pannagl.
He is survived by: his sons, George Rayford Smith (Beckey) and Gene Ray Smith; his son-in-law Gabriel N. Trahan, Jr. (Debbie); his grandchildren, Melissa Trahan Ferrara (Joey), George Rayford Smith II (Jackie), LeeAnn White (Clint), Frances Veronica Smith, Annie "Mackie" Smith and Rayford Butler Smith II; his great grandchildren, Melanie Ferrara, Sophie White, Kate Smith, Sadie White and Caroline Smith; and his sister Betty Forman (Gary). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery (4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Memories Funeral Home (4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001).
