He is survived by: his wife Helen Collins; his siblings, Doris Wilhite, Naomi Bigelow and Ralph Collins; his children, Juanita Renee Collins and Joe Collins, Jr.; his stepdaughters, Windi Sebren and Sherry Pryor (Michael); his grandchildren, Christopher Collins, Brittney Collins, Sydney Collins and Sterling Collins; and his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Pryor, Amanda Pryor, Jana Pryor, Sage, Rhett, Wrangler, Aria, Adrian, Harper, Lilly, Nathan and Allen.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable contributions be made to American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Glioblastoma Foundation.
